Update!

Due to the tail end of a Hurricane crossing Britain today (10th) this event has now been moved to Sunday 17th August, 2014

Ketch Car Boot Sale

I will be at the Ketch Car Boot Sale just off the A38 at the Ketch roundabout on the edge of Worcester.

Please come by and say hello.

I will be selling a selection of medical herbs for you to stock your Victorian style medical gardens (or non-Victorian for that matter!). Also there will be information about the herbs and other goodies

I will also be available to give advice on starting a medical herb garden, treatment plans available, booking herb walks and talks on alternative medicine...holistic medicine in general....ailments...and more.

I look forward to seeing you there.

I should be set up by 7:30 am at the latest...which gives me plenty of time to put the kettle on before you arrive.

Health and Happiness

The Green Man

New Health Plans

Many chronic illnesses can be traced back to their early manifestations in childhood. For that reason it is important to get it right at the earliest stage before it develops on. Orthodox medicine offers a number of suppressing treatments that encourage the disease to go deeper or deny the process of healing to follow on to a natural conclusion. The short term gain may seem impressive but it is at a long term cost.

Despite the desire to do the best for their children, many families find the cost of medicine outside the NHS daunting.....but free medicine is not always good medicine.

I see how many people are struggling in these times...so as of 1st of December 2015 I will introduce some new price schemes to help you get the treatment you need.

1. The Family Plan.

Children to the age of 15 will now receive all their herbal medicine half-price.

2. The Friends and Partner Plan.

If two partners or friends begin treatment together the second person will get their treatment for half price for the duration of time you are both in treatment.

I hope this helps you to get the care that you need.

Re: Herb walk, Sunday September 1st« Reply #2 on: August 22, 2013, 09:16:07 AM »A few committee members had a preview of the herb walk with Jeremy yesterday evening. It was utterly fascinating, and we learned so much about plants, which we'd all spent years walking past thinking they were weeds.Do sign up for Sunday Sept 1st.You'll enjoy it,we certainly did. Jaybee

Below are just a couple of pictures from the Spring Detox Herb Walk at the Cherry Orchard Nature Reserve in Worcester on 27th April, 2014.

Despite the less than inviting weather, there was a good turnout. Those who attended were eager to try the the wild foods shown to them...and many were surprised at how good they taste. One person who attended has since contacted me to say she has already been out gathering the herbs and including them in her food.

The nature reserve is an excellent site with a great variety of plants to see. There is always a sense that you need walk miles to see a variety of useful herbs, but even within a few feet of the entrance gates there was already about a dozen herbs to talk about.

If you get a chance, head out to the nature reserve and see for yourself....Perhaps I might even see you there!

Sunday 25th of May

2:30-4:00pm

Starting at the Church

(New St. Bartholomew)

Herbs of Harpley

Spring Detox Walk

Our ancestors took full advantage of the native herbs that grow in our countryside. Included in our diet, these native herbs provide a more diverse and concentrated range of phyto-nurtients than the narrower range of mostly imported or introduced foods we consume today. The benefits of these herbs are particularly felt after the ravages of winter leave our bodies acidic and toxic. Conditions that, when unaltered, are the precursor of disease. In modern times this is even more poignant given the highly de-natured and chemical content of our food!

One easy way to pack a cleansing nutrient bomb into your diet is to gather and blend our native herbs into a Smoothie.

Join Harpley’s Green Man…Herbalist Jeremy Griffiths, in a walk around our community to identify and gather our healthy native herbs which we will take back to the church and blend into our own unique detoxifying meal.

Remember to bring your wellies…plenty of enthusiasm…and your taste buds!...Prices 3 pounds for adults…children till 16 years free!

For more information contact: Jeremy Griffiths on 07852663001 or write to tgm.mobileherbalist@outlook.com or

Candy Connolly

candy@shaneconnolly.co.uk or phone 01886853248.

There was a goodly attendance at the Harpley Spring Detox Herb Walk on the 25th of May, 2014. We went out into the surrounding area and lanes and tasted, gathered and brought back our bounty to the church where I turned it into a colourful salad and a delicious smoothie, which was all served up with my own home baked herbal bread. I was pleasantly surprised by how many really enjoyed the smoothie and watched as some cleaned their plates with bread and spoon, or asked for seconds.

The next events will take place in July down at Symonds Yat. These will include one day of foraging and cooking and one day of identifying, gathering and applying wild medical herbs. For more information please look below on this page.

The Friends of Diglis Fields Herb Walk at the Cherry Orchard Nature Reserve was a wonderful event with much input and interaction from those attending. It was very rewarding for me to hear one person attending say that she now saw the Nature Reserve with different eyes....and in more detail.

Sadly, one of those attending took ill at the beginning of the walk. I wish her a speedy recovery.

For those of you who attended and were asking about some good herb books to read, two of the books I mentioned were:

Bartram's Encyclopedia of Herbal Medicine. ISBN 1-85487-586-8

The Book of Herbal Wisdom by Matthew Wood. ISBN 978-1-55643-232-3

There has already been talk of conducting the walk again in the spring next year. I look forward to leading you through the Nature Reserve at a different time of year and all the new discoveries that will bring.

!Autumn Special Offer!

As of the beginning of November 2013, until further notice, prices have been decreased as follows: First consultations have been reduced from 65 pounds to 55 pounds. Follow-up consultations will now be charged at 30 pounds. All other prices stand.

MEDICAL HERB GARDEN

Presented By Medical Herbalist Jeremy Griffiths BA,DBTh,MIRCH

Spring seems a long way off but now is the time to start making your horticultural plans for next year!

Want to do something new with your garden? How about creating your own medical herb garden?

I have been treating myself and family members with herbs since the mid-1980s for various common ailments.

On a material level, learning to use herbs can save you a good deal of money. More importantly, on a spiritual level the process of growing, making and successfully applying your own remedies binds us back to the world in a most uplifting way.

The presentation will explore the considerations for planning your own medical herb garden to harvest from

through presenting a compact but diverse selection of plants and give examples of their application for the first aid treatment of common maladies that confront you day to day.

Adults £ 8.00 limited space, so book early!

Price includes refreshment and disgustingly unhealthy biscuits and cake!

Herb Walk and Case Study

May 6th 2017

Groups like this are what make teaching for me worthwhile.

They were enthusiastic and full of questions despite having to endure cold...and battle the 2 O'clock post lunch sleepies...as well as my grueling pace.

We started by going out into the field and identifying a number of herbs that would be applicable to the afternoon case we later examined.

The perspective of understanding went beyond just a bio-chemical approach, but considered the influence of the elements and environment on the plants, as well as temperament and character in respect of how they would impact the case at hand. Thus equipping the students with a truly holistic understanding.

Clun WI

"Beyond the Doctrine of Signatures"

Presentation

In my dutiful desire to make this event on time, I pushed my fuel tank to the limit only to find myself in a beautiful and remote landscape where in true Brigadoon fashion, the petrol stations only appear once every hundred years out of the mists...and then close before six when. However in true WI fashion...the ladies rallied their resources...and their president was very kind enough to supply me with enough diesel to get me to a late night station where I was able to give "Chalky", my van, a drink and make it home.

Despite that, it was a lovely welcome and a good talk...and I was able to speak in more detail with some members at the end of the presentation. Thank you for having me to talk to your group and for helping me out at the end.

Something must have been in the air that night as sadly I forgot to ask someone to take some pictures...

If you have not been out to Clun...take a trip that way as the landscape is stunning.

"Beyond the Doctrine of

 Signatures" Presentation

26th April, 2017

I received a warm welcome

from the "Hot Peppers" who I took through an understanding of The Doctrine of Signatures and beyond its classic beginnings. I felt this an appropriate subject as it allowed the members to come away with a new perspective that they can take with them into the countryside.

There was not an empty seat in the house....and I was told non-members attended especially for the talk.

Many members will be joining me for a Herb Walk in May.

My biggest temptation was the number of lovely cakes on offer at the end of the meeting....especially the chocolate one...but I was glad to spend my time answering the many questions after the talk. Thank you to the Hot Peppers for inviting me and I look forward to hosting the walk in May.

Thanks to Gemma for taking the pictures

The “In The Beginning Was The Herb” Herb Walk Tour

kicks off this season of

herb walks.

Herbs are our birthright, and provide a potential source of food as well as a serious source of medicine.

Sadly, as modern society moves us further from the natural world an understanding of their use is under threat.

It is the goal of The Green Man to turn that trend around

and start you on a journey to empower you to gain back your birthright.

The Doctrine of Signatures and Beyond

March 22nd, 2017

at

The Malvern Naturalists

Field Club

There was an excellent turnout for the event as evident by my ever decreasing size in the picture. The topic was The Doctrine of Signatures and Beyond, continuing my work of taking the classic edict of the Doctrine of Signatures to a new understanding. I chose it as it gave the group a new perspective that they could take into the field with them and discover.

Thank you very kindly to the group for inviting me to talk and to join them for a cream tea at the end.

The women of the Holt Heath WI set the bar high in giving me a very warm welcome. There was an excellent turnout for the talk and I was overwhelmed by the number of people who wished to talk to me at the end of the presentation....who came up to look at the herbs and try some of the samples on offer.

I hope I have inspired you all to go on to learn more and start to incorporate herbs into your daily life.
