If it were possible to be lost on the land, without access to modern resources or supplies for a week, how well would you survive?
Our ancient ancestors lived from the animals, plants and trees they found around them in their homeland, which they used as their food and their medicine
Not only did they survive - they thrived!

PLANTING
A MEDICAL HERB GARDEN
Presented
By Medical Herbalist Jeremy Griffiths BA,DBTh,MIRCH
Spring
is fast upon us! Want to do something new with your garden?
I
have been treating myself and family members with herbs since the
mid-1980s for various common ailments.
On a
material level, learning to use herbs can save you a good deal of
money. More importantly, on a spiritual level the process of
growing, making and successfully applying your own remedies binds us
back to the world in a most uplifting way.
The
presentation will explore the considerations for planning your own
medical herb garden to harvest from
through
presenting a compact but diverse selection of plants and give
examples of their application for the first aid treatment of common
maladies.
Adults £
8.00 limited
space, so book early!
Price
includes refreshment and disgustingly unhealthy bisuits and cake!

Welland WI
I had a very enjoyable evening speaking to the women of the Welland WI on the topic of
The Doctrine of Signatures.
This is always a good subject to introduce people to at this time of year as it puts and interesting twist on their walking experience as they observe the growing plants around them.

The first walk kicked of the season of herb walks with a respectable 12, out of the original 14 signed up, in attendance.
Despite some forcasting for rain around the second half of the walk, the wet stuff managed to hold off.
This was a good group with a good deal of interaction and questions.
I am looking forward to the next walk (as listed below) this coming Sunday 29th of April.
Thanks to all those who came out...and to Kathrine for taking some pictures for me.

IRCH Modules 3/4
Herb Walk and Case Study
May 6th 2017
Groups like this are what make teaching for me worthwhile.
They were enthusiastic and full of questions despite having to endure cold...and battle the 2 O'clock post lunch sleepies...as well as my grueling pace.
We started by going out into the field and identifying a number of herbs that would be applicable to the afternoon case we later examined.
The perspective of understanding went beyond just a bio-chemical approach, but considered the influence of the elements and environment on the plants, as well as temperament and character in respect of how they would impact the case at hand. Thus equipping the students with a truly holistic understanding.

Clun WI
"Beyond the Doctrine of Signatures"
Presentation
In my dutiful desire to make this event on time, I pushed my fuel tank to the limit only to find myself in a beautiful and remote landscape where in true Brigadoon fashion, the petrol stations only appear once every hundred years out of the mists...and then close before six when. However in true WI fashion...the ladies rallied their resources...and their president was very kind enough to supply me with enough diesel to get me to a late night station where I was able to give "Chalky", my van, a drink and make it home.
Despite that, it was a lovely welcome and a good talk...and I was able to speak in more detail with some members at the end of the presentation. Thank you for having me to talk to your group and for helping me out at the end.
Something must have been in the air that night as sadly I forgot to ask someone to take some pictures...
If you have not been out to Clun...take a trip that way as the landscape is stunning.

"Hot Peppers"
WI
"Beyond the Doctrine of Signatures" Presentation
26th April, 2017
I received a warm welcome
from the "Hot Peppers" who I took through an understanding of The Doctrine of Signatures and beyond its classic beginnings. I felt this an appropriate subject as it allowed the members to come away with a new perspective that they can take with them into the countryside.
There was not an empty seat in the house....and I was told non-members attended especially for the talk.
Many members will be joining me for a Herb Walk in May.
My biggest temptation was the number of lovely cakes on offer at the end of the meeting....especially the chocolate one...but I was glad to spend my time answering the many questions after the talk. Thank you to the Hot Peppers for inviting me and I look forward to hosting the walk in May.
Thanks to Gemma for taking the pictures

Herb Walk Tour
kicks
off this season of
herb
walks.
Herbs
are our birthright, and provide a potential source of food as well as
a serious source of medicine.
Sadly,
as modern society moves us further from the natural world an
understanding of their use is under threat.
It
is the goal of The
Green Man to
turn that trend around
and
start you on a journey to empower you to gain back your birthright.

The Doctrine of Signatures and Beyond
March 22nd, 2017
at
The Malvern Naturalists
Field Club
There was an excellent turnout for the event as evident by my ever decreasing size in the picture. The topic was The Doctrine of Signatures and Beyond, continuing my work of taking the classic edict of the Doctrine of Signatures to a new understanding. I chose it as it gave the group a new perspective that they could take into the field with them and discover.
Thank you very kindly to the group for inviting me to talk and to join them for a cream tea at the end.
